Tony Newbery

Tony Newbery, was a renowned international show jumper, established himself as a leading figure in the sport at a young age. Throughout his career, he has represented his country on numerous occasions and has been a part of several winning Nations Cup Teams. Notable highlights include being a member of the British Olympic Squad in Montreal in 1976 and serving as a non-travelling reserve for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Additionally, Tony Newbery achieved the impressive feat of successfully completing the challenging Hickstead Derby.

In the 1990s, Tony shifted his focus towards training and became highly sought after, conducting three-day clinics and lecture demonstrations across the country. His expertise led to his selection as an Elite Trainer on the B.S.J.A. panel in 1999, working alongside Lars Sederholm.

Tony`s training efforts extended internationally, as he travelled to Kuwait to provide winter clinics, resulting in the country winning a Team bronze medal at the Asian Games in Bangkok. Recognized for his contribution to their success, Tony Newbery was invited to return and prepare the team for the next Games in Korea. Despite his training commitments, Tony remains an active competitor in British Showjumping, with his Grade A horse Carnaval King.
